A Sound-Based Practice for Restoring Coherence & Balance
Biofield Tuning is a sound-based practice developed by Eileen Day McKusick that uses tuning forks to support relaxation, awareness, and energetic balance across the physical, mental, emotional, and subtle body systems.
Rather than “fixing” or forcing change, Biofield Tuning works by introducing coherent sound into areas of energetic tension or dissonance—allowing the body’s own intelligence to reorganize toward greater harmony.
The Body Is More Than Physical Matter
The term biofield was introduced by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to describe the complex field of energy and information that surrounds and interpenetrates living systems. As experienced and mapped through Biofield Tuning, the biofield can hold:
These patterns don’t live only in the mind—they register as vibrational information in the field around the body.
Listening Before Anything Changes
“Tuning” refers to using the coherent frequency of tuning forks to read and interact with the information present in the biofield.
The forks act as a feedback tool, helping locate areas of incoherence or resistance. Simply bringing attention and sound to these areas can allow stored energy to soften, reorganize, or release—often without force or analysis.
Coherence vs. Dissonance – How Balance Is Experienced
Biofield Tuning does not diagnose or treat conditions. Instead, it creates an environment where the system can naturally move toward greater coherence.
When Experience Leaves a Vibrational Imprint
Emotional experiences can become stored as energetic charge in the biofield.
Sometimes, simply observing these areas with sound, attention, and neutrality is enough to initiate change. The process is often subtle, gentle, and deeply personal.
Why Sound Works – Sound Is Not Abstract — It’s Physical
Sound is a mechanical wave that moves through matter. It interacts directly with: Tissue, Water, The nervous system, The electromagnetic field of the body
Sound provides immediate feedback and can help reorganize disordered systems—something demonstrated clearly in cymatics, where sound visibly shapes matter.
How Sound Communicates With the Body
Frequency (Hz): The pitch of sound — carries information
Amplitude (dB): The strength or loudness — affects depth of impact
In the biofield, frequency acts as informational input, not force.
The Core Mechanism of Biofield Tuning
Resonance occurs when a system responds to a frequency that matches it. Entrainment is what happens when a less organized system naturally syncs with a more coherent one.
Tuning forks emit stable, coherent vibration, encouraging dissonant areas of the field to reorganize—much like how slow breathing can calm heart rate and brain waves.
Simple Instruments, Precise Feedback
Weighted tuning forks: Applied gently on the body for grounding, physical tension, and somatic awareness
Unweighted tuning forks: Used in the biofield to locate and interact with energetic patterns
These tools don’t impose change—they offer order, allowing the system to respond.
Consciousness Shapes the Experience
As sound healing researcher Jonathan Goldman notes:
Frequency + Intent = Healing
Intent is the consciousness behind the sound.
The practitioner’s role is to remain neutral, present, and attentive.
Creating a safe space for awareness and coherence to emerge.
A Calm, Observational Experience
Each experience is unique and unfolds at its own pace.
